Tucked away between Jodhpur and Nagaur, this fairytale village will steal your hearts – don’t say we didn’t warn you😊. The distance from Delhi to Khimsar is around 500 km, roughly a 10-hour drive via Jaipur–Nagaur road.

Hidden deep in the Thar Desert, this little oasis of calm gave us some of the most magical sunsets and sunrise moments we’ve had in Rajasthan. The Khimsar Sand Dunes Village operates seasonally – it’s open from October to March and remains closed during the hotter months and monsoon, as the desert temperatures can get quite extreme.

If you’re craving a peaceful hill getaway without the chaos of Shimla, Naldehra is a lovely surprise.

Naldehra is a small hill station, which has the oldest and largest golf course ! It’s quaint and surrounded by pine & deodar trees. Interestingly, Lord Curzon, the former Viceroy of India was enchanted by Naldehra and named his third daughter Alexendra Naldehra!

It is approximately 400 km from Delhi and takes around 8–9 hours by road, with the most commonly followed route being Delhi – Chandigarh – Shimla – Naldehra. From February to May, the weather remains pleasant and is ideal for forest walks and relaxed outdoor lunches.

Some interesting things to do in Naldehra are:

  • Visit Golf course, it’s one of a kind.
  • Enjoy a day trip to Tattapani, for hot water springs.
  • Make sure to visit Rashtrapati Niwas, in Mashobra, a 174 year old heritage building, will leave you in awe 🫢!
  • Explore Local crafts and cafe, some have really stunning views.

We stayed at Pristine Peaks Naldehra, and it truly was a beautiful stay, surrounded by serene views. This makes a perfect 2 day trip from Delhi NCR.
