If there was an award for the best honeymoon destination for couples, it’s a no-brainer – I’d give it to Seychelles. Honestly, if you want to experience paradise with your own eyes, a Seychelles honeymoon is all you need.

As I write this, I can almost feel the soft breeze in my hair and taste the sweetness of fresh coconut water, all while soaking in the beauty of this little slice of heaven on earth.

We spent 9 days in Seychelles, and trust me, you won’t want to leave once you’re there.

Things to Know Before Planning a Magical trip to Seychelles:

Here are a few things to keep in mind to make your Seychelles trip even more special:

1: Flights- If you’re flying from Delhi, unfortunately, there are no direct flights to Seychelles. However, we recommend taking a direct 4-hour flight from Mumbai to Seychelles via Air Seychelles. The flight is short and hassle-free. Also, IndiGo has launched direct flights from Mumbai to Seychelles, operating four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Expect to pay around ₹30,000 or more for a round-trip per person, depending on the season and availability. While Skyscanner offers some great deals, don’t forget to check the airlines website directly for exclusive offers and better pricing.

2: Visa- Seychelles is a visa-free destination for most travellers. All you need is an Electronic Travel Authorization, which you can easily apply for online. However, A Travel Insurance is mandatory.

3: Weather- Seychelles enjoys a tropical climate year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season, April- June and October- November. The weather is perfect for outdoor activities like snorkelling, hiking, and beach hopping. Don’t forget to pack your sunscreens as you’ll need them a lot!

4: While public transport is available and affordable, you’ll need to do some research on timings and plan your trip accordingly. The alternative is renting a car, which lets you explore the islands at your own pace. Typically, it costs around €40–€60 per day, depending on the car type and season. Plus, you don’t need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive in Seychelles! (Quick  tip: ask your hotel to arrange a car for you, they offer better price).

5: Airtel and Cable & Wireless are good network options for your mobile needs but avoid getting them at the airport.

6: Keep in mind that Seychelles slows down on weekends, with most places closed. Even on weekdays, markets and shops tend to close by 5 PM, so plan your activities and shopping accordingly.

7: Seychelles does have a few vegetarian and Indian restaurants–especially in areas like Mahe and Praslin–but they’re limited and pricey. If you’re a vegetarian (like me!) or have specific food preferences, I’d highly recommend carrying a few ready-to-eat packets with you. I carried some Haldiram’s Ready-to-Eat packs, and trust me–they were a lifesaver and super yum!

8: Most hotels charge for bottled water, we recommend buying a 10-liter water bottle from a local supermarket. It’s way more budget-friendly and should last you for a good chunk of your trip (Please avoid single use plastic).

9. While the local currency is Seychellois Rupee (SCR), Euros are widely accepted. 1SCR~INR 6.

10: A little heads up- Seychelles can be a bit on the expensive side – from food to inter-island transfers and even water at some hotels. But trust us, it’s worth every bit. Don’t let the price tags stop you from enjoying this tropical paradise.

11: Drones are allowed in Seychelles, but you must register them with the SCAA before flying. Make sure to check the local regulations to avoid any issues.

Packing Essentials

Here’s a quick checklist of what to bring for that perfect tropical vibe:

Swimwear – You’ll be living in swimwear, so pack at least 2–3 sets. We personally love Decathlon for comfy, modest, and affordable swimwear options.

Sunscreen – You’ll need  them all day long. I prefer Reequil Dry Matte and Bioderma Tinted sunscreen (for dewy look). For body sunscreen, Wishcare is our favourite.

Mosquito Repellent – A must must have for those tropical evenings when the bugs come out to play. Odomos is our trusted brand!

Footwear – Comfy sandals for the beach, and a pair of sturdy shoes if you plan to do hikes.

Waterproof Phone Pouch – Trust me, you’ll want to capture everything! Especially while kayaking or snorkeling. We have been using Spigen Pouch and it works great.

Other Accessories –  Beach towel, snorkel kit, waterproof bag.

Pro Tip: Packing cubes and vacuum bags will make your suitcase neat and super space-efficient.

Our 9-Days Seychelles Honeymoon Itinerary:

Mahé Island, Seychelles (Day 1-3)

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 stunning islands (wow!). You’ll land at Mahé Airport, and the moment you step out, take a deep breath – smell the fresh ocean air, feel the breeze in your hair, and soak in the breathtaking views. Your paradise adventure begins here!

We hired a taxi from the airport and headed to our hotel. Mahé has plenty of hotels to choose from, but we stayed at Coral Strand Smart Choice, right by the beautiful Beau Vallon Beach. Our stay was an absolute delight– the vast ocean view still lingers in my mind.

Take your time to relax and adjust to the tropical climate. In the evening, explore the place on foot, taking it easy. I bet you’ll love discovering the island this way.

We wandered through the colorful streets of Victoria City and came across the Victoria Clock Tower, which eerily resembles Big Ben! Try to explore Victoria Market on a weekday, when it is full of life and offers a glimpse into local culture.

The Arulmigu Navasakti Vinayagar Temple is the first and only Hindu temple in Seychelles, with Lord Ganesha as the presiding deity. It’s a peaceful and spiritual spot to visit. While you’re in the area, make sure to admire the stunning beauty of Albert Church as well.

Fun fact: Hinduism is the second-largest religion in Seychelles, after Christianity.

By night, we enjoyed some delicious calamari , Seybrew and a pizza by the beach, the perfect end to a beautiful day.

There’s something magical about Seychelles’s sunsets.

Reserve a day for an amazing Hike to Copolia Trail.

Start your day with a wholesome breakfast because you’re in for an adventure! The Copolia Trail is a challenging hike through a dense forest that rewards you with breathtaking 360° views of Mahé Island from the top. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t forget!

Make sure to pack plenty of water and some snacks–you’ll need them along the way.

If you’re taking a bus, head to Platform C and catch a bus to Sans Soucis. Just let the driver know you want to get off at Copolia Trail, and they’ll guide you.

Fun fact: No matter where you’re headed, the bus fare in Seychelles remains the same–approximately 12 SCR per person. Super convenient, right?

In the evening, head to Takamaka Distillery for a tasting session. Takamaka is the signature rum of Seychelles, crafted locally with a unique tropical twist. You can take a tour, learn about the distillation process, and of course, enjoy some tastings!

If you have an extra day, consider hiking the Anse Major Trail, a scenic coastal hike leading to a secluded, breathtaking beach. You can also visit Eden Island, a stunning man-made island known for its luxury villas, upscale restaurants, and vibrant marina.

This view. This moment. This island dream at Indian Ocean.

Make it extra special by reserving two nights on Silhouette Island–a secluded paradise perfect for romance and relaxation.

This is the third-largest island in Seychelles, but guess what? It feels like your own private paradise. With long white-sand beaches, lush green forests, and zero crowds, Silhouette Island truly stole our hearts. Only about 200 people live here, and the only way to reach it is by a scenic jetty or helicopter ride.

Honestly, Silhouette Island felt like a hidden gem. We spotted giant Aldabra tortoises, visited the Eco Center, and learned how the island was once owned by the French Dauban family, who developed massive plantations here from the mid-1900s to the 1960s.

The only place to stay on the island is the dreamy Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa–and trust me, it’s every bit as magical as it sounds. No cars here, just buggies and bicycles, which made getting around feel so peaceful and slow-paced–exactly what a honeymoon should be.

The resort has 111 villas, but I’d highly recommend booking an Oceanfront Villa. Waking up to the sound of the waves and stepping out onto the beach with the Indian Ocean right in front of you–it’s unreal. We honestly never wanted to leave.

Breakfast at Café Dauban was such a treat–think endless buffet with fresh tropical fruits, pastries, and local Creole dishes. And for dinner, we were spoiled for choice–Mediterranean, Italian, Creole, Asian, Japanese (yum yum)!

One of our favorite moments? A dreamy couples spa session at Eforea Spa, surrounded by nature.

Praslin Island (Day 6-8)

If there’s one thing, we absolutely loved during our trip to Seychelles, it was island hopping–and our next stop was the beautiful island of Praslin.

You can easily take a ferry from Mahé to Praslin, which takes about an hour, and the ride itself is super scenic (just make sure to keep some meds handy if you get seasick easily 😉). Alternatively, there is also a short 15 minute domestic flight for Mahe to Praslin transfer.

For inter-island travel between Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue, we booked round-trip tickets with Cat Cocos Ferry. It’s reliable and well-managed. The ferry price varies from €15 to €96 per person, depending on the route and seat type. Just make sure to book in advance, especially during peak travel months!

Praslin is the second-largest island in Seychelles and honestly, it blew us away with its gorgeous beaches, palm-lined shores, and lush hiking trails. It has a much more laid-back vibe than Mahé.

We stayed at Palm Beach Resort Seychelles, right along the stunning Grand Anse Beach. This colonial style building boasts clean spacious rooms with beautiful view of the beach. We’d recommend spending at least 2 nights in Praslin.

Things to Do in Praslin:

Praslin may be a small island, but there’s so much to explore and experience here! Whether you’re into hikes, sunsets, or just lounging by the beach–Praslin has it all.

1. Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve
One of our favorite experiences! This scenic hike not only takes you through lush forests but also rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of the island from the top. Don’t miss the chance to spot the famous Coco de Mer palm–it’s native to Praslin and truly one of a kind!

2. Sundowners at Anse Lazio
This beach is pure perfection. Golden sands, turquoise waters, and the most gorgeous sunsets we witnessed.  Grab a drink, sit back, and just take in the beauty–Anse Lazio is straight out of a postcard.

3. Relax at Cote D’Or Beach
If you’re in the mood for something more chilled, head to Cote D’Or Beach. It’s quiet, peaceful, and perfect for a long, lazy beach day. We just laid back, dipped into the warm ocean now and then, and let time pass slowly. While you’re in Praslin, make sure to treat yourself to an authentic Creole meal at Berjaya Praslin Resort.

Other beaches to cherish include– Anse Georgette, a hidden gem with soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. And Anse Volbert is great for swimming and snorkeling too.

If your itinerary allows, take a day tour to Curieuse Island. Imagine this: giant tortoises just casually roaming around, munching leaves and doing their thing. It’s 100% worth your time and adds such a fun, wild twist to your Seychelles trip.

Ladigue

From Praslin, we took a short 15-minute jetty ride to La Digue, and let me tell you– it’s like stepping into a postcard! While we did just a day trip, in hindsight, we’d highly recommend staying here for at least 1-2 nights to truly soak in the authentic island life.

La Digue is home to the world-famous Anse Source d’Argent, often called the most photographed beach in the world–and for good reason! Think powdery white sand, granite boulders, and crystal-clear waters.

To access Anse Source d’Argent, you’ll need to enter through L’Union Estate, which has an entry fee of 150 SCR per person. The good news? It’s valid for the entire day–so take your time, explore the vanilla plantations, hang out with the tortoises, and end your visit with a lazy beach afternoon under the swaying palms. The best way to explore La Digue? On a bicycle! Rent one for around 100-150 SCR and take your time riding through palm-lined paths.

While you’re in La Digue, don’t miss out on the crystal kayak experience. The water is so clear, it feels like you’re floating in the sky! We paid around 200–250 SCR per person for an hour, and it was totally worth it.

We spent our day crystal kayaking, snorkeling, and just floating in bliss.

If you’ve got a little extra time (and energy!), don’t miss the beaches on the other side of La Digue–Grand Anse, Petite Anse, and Anse Cocos. They may require a bit of a walk or a cycle ride to reach, but, it’s so worth it.
